About Our Physical Therapy Center

The Physical Therapy Center for Sports and Performing Arts is owned by Dr. Alex Patterson Tichy, PT, DPT. Alex has her Doctorate in Physical Therapy and is additionally a Board Certified Sports Specialists. Dr. Patterson Tichy is a US Figure Skating Team physical therapist and has served as a volunteer physical therapist at the United States Olympic Training Center. Alex has extensive experience treating performing artists and athletes in a variety of sports.

The Physical Therapy Center for Sports and Performing Arts offers both physical therapy and health & wellness services. So whether you are looking to rehabilitate an injury or to optimize you sports training we are here to help you achieve your goals!

Physical therapy includes a full physical therapy examination and evaluation. Based on your initial evaluation findings and your personal goals an individualized physical therapy treatment plan will be recommended. Re-evaluations will be provided throughout your physical therapy program to monitor and ensure that you are progressing towards your goals. We ensure that you are fully independent with a comprehensive return to sport or performing art progression before discharging you from your physical therapy program.

Health and Wellness services include sports massage and manual therapies, Pilates, recovery boots, a total body diagnostic exam and exercise recommendations. The goal of our health and wellness sessions are to optimize your training, prevent injuries and improve sports performance.

The Physical Therapy Center for Sports and Performing Arts is located within the 4D Hockey Training Center which provides a positive, athletic and motivating environment for your care experience. Additionally, our location allows for the unique opportunity to utilize the center’s advanced sports performance software and training equipment.

We accept most major insurance plans and we will verify your insurance benefits and coverage at your initial appointment. We also offer the option of self-pay for your physical therapy sessions. All health & wellness services are self-pay, however depending on your insurance plan these services can possibly be reimbursed through your health savings account.

Dr. Alex Patterson Tichy, PT, DPT, SCS

Dr. Patterson Tichy received her physical therapy degree from Wayne State University in 2012. Alex has extensive experience treating athletes and performing artists of all ages and experience levels ranging from recreational to professional. Alex has traveled internationally with the USA Figure Skating Team serving as a team physical therapist and has served as a volunteer physical therapist at the United States Olympic Training Center. Alex is a former junior ladies figure skating national medalist, senior ladies national competitor and USA Figure Skating team member.

Dave Boyer ATC/CSCS, HMS, PSC

Dave’s experiences entitle work in the areas of orthopedic clinical rehabilitation, and professional sports. He has had the opportunity to work with the Detroit Vipers Hockey club of the IHL, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers of the NHL, he has also worked with the Detroit Pistons of the NBA. With these organization. Dave’s held various roles as an Athletic Trainer or Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sometimes both. As a 1990 Graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Dave holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Sports Medicine, with emphasis on Athletic training. In addition, he is also certified by the NSCA as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Dave is a Sports Performance Athletic Trainer. Dave also works with a variety of youth programs for improving their overall strength and conditioning and has with the youth National Soccer Club as their Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. He has a wealth of hands on experiences in treating Sports related injuries and understanding the mechanics of movement in one’s sport to decreased potential of injuries. He recently received additional certification in human movement and human performance specialist.
